Policies and agreements
A range of policies and agreements are in place across the group and within the various regions depending on both specific circumstances and legislative requirements.

An example of a recognition agreement with the primary union, the National Union of Mineworkers (NUM), in South Africa is as follows. (See recognition agreement entered between AngloGold Vaal River Operations and the National Union of Mineworkers as an example PDF- 461KB).

The group?s employment equity philosophy (PDF - 407KB) was approved by the board in 1999.
